2025 City of Omaha Annual Recycling Report

Each year, SCS Engineering, along with First Star Recycling, conducts an independent audit of the materials received from the City of Omaha’s curbside and drop off collection. See the details about what materials were collected and where they were recycled below.

Paper, PET plastic, alumininum, steel and orange bags all had a nice increase over 2024. However, the amount of materials that were not acceptable for recycling had an increase and this report addresses this issue. One of the ways we are working to help reduce trash in the recycling material’s stream, is by encouraging residents to use OmahaRecyclingGuide.org, Keep Omaha Beautiful’s searchable resource developed in partnership with the City of Omaha and First Star Recycling. The tool details how to best dispose of common household items once they are no longer needed. Remember, when an item cannot be confirmed as recyclable, it should not be placed in the recycling bin.
