First Star Recycling Connects w/~11k Residents During Earth Day Celebrations - Spreading the Word about Solutions Plastic Lumber

Earth Day season was a busy one for First Star Recycling as our team participated in three major Earth Day celebrations across eastern Nebraska: Earth Day Omaha, Earth Day Lincoln, and Earth Day in Bellevue.

Together, these events attracted approximately 11,000 attendees and provided an opportunity for First Star to engage directly with residents about recycling, waste reduction, and the importance of supporting a circular economy.

Our team of five staff and volunteers shared information about local recycling opportunities, distributed Hefty® ReNew™ orange bags, and helped residents better understand what materials belong in curbside recycling and what can be collected through the orange bag program.

Visitors also learned about First Star’s unique Solutions Plastic Lumber operation, where hard-to-recycle plastics collected from homes and businesses are transformed into durable ReClaim™ plastic lumber right here in Omaha. Examples of ReClaim™ products were displayed at each event, and a ReClaim™ planter was given away during every celebration.

We extend our thanks to the organizers, volunteers, community partners, and residents who helped make these Earth Day celebrations successful. Together, we are helping create a more sustainable future for our communities.

Helping you make the most of your wasted resources.

One of the most rewarding aspects of attending the Earth Day events was the opportunity to answer questions and help community members understand how their recycling efforts make a difference. From explaining what happens after materials are collected to showcasing products made from recovered plastics, our team enjoyed sharing the local impact of recycling with thousands of attendees. Residents were encouraged to register for a tour of First Star Recycling during Recycling in Action in May.
